Legal Track - Forensic Studies

The increases in fraud exposures, fraud investigations and prosecution of white collar crimes necessitate a demand for forensic legal professionals. The Legal Track will provide students with the necessary skills in the areas of fraud investigation, fraud prosecution and defense, and litigation support. Through courses emphasizing legal research and writing, interviewing and investigating skills, criminal evidence and procedure, and courtroom presentation skills, graduates will become valuable members of the forensic team. Graduates will find careers in the investigative, prosecutorial and criminal defense arenas.

Upon completion of the program, a graduate in the Legal Track will be able to:

  • Apply investigative and interviewing techniques in all phases of fraud investigations.
  • Participate in a simulated criminal trial in order to understand pertinent rules of evidence, direct and cross examination of witnesses
  • Apply investigative techniques for fraud detection.
  • Investigate and analyze physical and documentary evidence.
  • Analyze of elements of white collar crimes.
  • Understand how to approach and analyze legal research and writing projects.
  • Analyze and synthesize rules, statutes and case law and apply them to a hypothetical factual situation.
  • Confidently use a law library, performing legal research and utilizing computerized legal research.
  • Synthesize legal research & writing, computer, and investigative skills.
