Applying to a Study Abroad Program

Please note, you are required to submit a SU Application to Study Abroad and be accepted to study abroad by Stevenson before you can apply to a specific study abroad program. If you do not get approval from SU to study abroad, we cannot guarantee that your credits will transfer. If you are planning on studying abroad and you have not filled out a SU Application to Study Abroad, please do that before you continue. Go to the application>

Please read the following information carefully to ensure a smooth application process.

Once you have completed a SU Application to Study Abroad, you can start working on your application to a specific program, but you cannot submit your specific program application until you have been accepted by SU and until you have had Barbara review your application.

When you’re ready to apply to a specific program, the Study Abroad Office can help you with your application.

Arcadia, CIEE, LondonMet, and Waikato each have their own applications. You should contact the Study Abroad Office to find out how to get an application.

You can work on your application at any point, even if you’re still waiting for your SU Study Abroad Application to be processed. However, you cannot mail your application until you have been approved by the college and had Barbara Vlaisavljevic review your application.

The application process is not difficult, but it might take you some time to gather all the necessary materials. You should complete your application carefully to ensure that you include all necessary items. All programs will require official transcripts from SU and most programs will require a statement of purpose, letters of recommendation, and passport sized photos.

When you have your application ready, STOP.

Do not send your application yet. You are required to have your application reviewed by Barbara Vlaisavljevic, Director of Study Abroad, before you can send it. This is a quick, but necessary step of the process. Contact Barbara Vlaisavljevic or stop by during her office hours to have your application reviewed.

While you’re completing the application process, you should also start the process of getting a passport if you don’t already have one. All travel outside of the United States requires a passport and it can take as long as three months to obtain a passport. More information about passports>
