Graduate Assistantship in Athletics

(3 positions – Baseball GA, Lacrosse GA, and Sports Information GA)

Baseball Graduate Assistant

  • Hold weekly meetings with players on the team to discuss their current grades and follow their progress in the classroom.
  • Maintain contact with professors of the student athletes who are struggling in certain classes.
  • Work with professors to formulate the best plan for the student to improve grades.
  • Create and report spreadsheet to the Head Coach on a weekly basis to report teams grades to maintain team goal of 3.0 GPA
  • Supervise weekly study hall meetings with players that have a GPA below a 2.5.
  • Attend department meetings on a weekly basis.
  • Meet and work with coaches to devise and execute practice drills and exercises.
  • Work with all position players on proper fundamentals, both offensively and defensively, core strength development and conditioning.
  • Controlling monies for food on road trips
  • Head Coach for Developmental Squad (JV).
  • Work with Athletics department in other capacities as needed.

Sports Information Graduate Assistant
  • Assist Sports Information Director in coordinating media relations for all sports within SU’s athletic program
  • Serve as a contact for select sports
  • Complete statistics at home and away games for select sports
  • Assist in statistical operations and maintenance of conference and NCAA statistics
  • Assist in production of media guides, recruiting brochures and press releases
  • Assist in maintenance of athletics website
  • Assist in office management, supervision of student assistants and other duties as assigned

Supervisor: Women’s Lacrosse/Field Hockey Coach

Qualifications: Experience with desktop publishing and solid communication and writing skills.
