Graduate Assistantship in the Sciences

(2 positions)

The Graduate Assistant (GA) in the Sciences will engage in substantive activities that support the Science and Mathematics Division at Stevenson University. Given the type of work the GA will be doing, a strong academic background and an earned bachelor’s degree in a natural science are essential.

  • Laboratory Teaching Assistant in Undergraduate Science Laboratories:  The GA will assist the instructor during the laboratory sessions of one or more undergraduate science courses.
  • Science Laboratory Assistant: The GA will assist a Laboratory Manager (Chemistry, Biology, or Safety) in performing duties related to the operation of the laboratories.
  • Research Assistant:  The GA will assist a science faculty member in carrying forward his/her research agenda.

Depending upon the GA’s interests and the Division’s needs, the position may engage in more than one area of responsibility each week. While all GA’s will have a regular weekly schedule, additional ad hoc duties may be assigned in order to assure completion of the required number of hours and/or to assist with special projects, events, or activities in the Science and Mathematics Division.
