In the early hours of the morning on a Saturday in December, 2007, over 250 members of the Villa Julie College community boarded motor coaches and headed to the Big Apple. The annual New York City Bus Trip has become a favorite for students, alumni, faculty, and staff. Everyone enjoyed a day of shopping, sightseeing, attending shows, and taking in all that New York has to offer.
An exciting contest was developed to incorporate the College's 60th Anniversary Celebration into the trip. As passengers boarded the busses in the morning, they each received a color copy of the College's 60th Anniversary logo. The person who took a picture of the logo in the most clever, funny, interesting, or unusual place in New York City was selected as the winner and would receive a round-trip ticket on Southwest Airlines to anywhere in the continental United States.
Contestants had fun searching for unique places to photograph the logo, but in the end only one winner was chosen. Members of the VJC 60th Anniversary Committee served as judges for the contest and selected a photograph taken by current VJC freshman Alana Warren at Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum (photo included below). The winning photo was submitted by Alana Warren,
a freshman Business Communications major.
