Things Parents & Students Should Know

  • Health promotion and safety of the students is our goal
     
  • SU Student Health Forms are required for all full-time students
     
  • An additional health form is required for student athletes
     
  • Physical examinations are good for one year
     
  • Students living in SU housing are required to be vaccinated against meningitis
     
  • It is important for each student to be knowledgeable about his/her health problems, such as:
     
    • Allergies to medications and foods
       
    • Allergies to bee stings and if Epi-pen is required, the student must carry it at all times
       
    • Medications (including a list of medications, doses, frequency and why the medication is prescribed)
       
    • For more serious health conditions, such as diabetes, a medical alert identifier is highly recommended.
       
  • For those students living in SU housing who are more than 45 minutes from home, it is highly recommended to find a health care provider in the surrounding area
     
  • Student should have appropriate health insurance and carry a health insurance card with them at all times
     
  • Counseling is available to all students
     
  • There is no additional cost for counseling services at this time
     
  • Students may experience adjustments and challenges to college life--this is normal--we are here to help
     
  • Confidentiality and privacy are maintained for all students
     
  • The Wellness Center offers counseling, health promotion and education and limited health services
